Qiera's Story: Apart of the Legacy
I am often asked, why do you share so much information about Golden Delight? The answer is simple, the more prepared a candidate, the more confident she will be in an audition experience. We want to see your best. Plain and simple.

It's no mystery to an audition,- find out what the expectations are, prepare like you never have before, and show the panel what you are made of. I have been given the privilege and responsibility of molding young adult women into outstanding performers and dynamic women in life.

We experienced a fun and productive 2013 season and have now selected the ladies that will perform for the 2014 season! Ms. Tanika and I are very excited about the upcoming performance opportunities. Enjoy the stories below of ladies that have been through the audition and season experiences!

Best of Luck,
Ms. Tiffany, Golden Delight Director

FROM THE DIRECTOR'S DESK
I love being able to put in ideas and create new things with these girls. It is always a good feeling watching the final outcome. That makes me feel really good inside because I can proudly say I was apart of that GD squad.

My advice to prospective members is to remember to always give it your best...don't hide in the back...come to the front and make Ms. Tiffany look at you! Coming to the clinics is always a plus into getting prepared for trying out. I would even say take technique dance classes on your own. Be prepared to work hard and ask yourself are you prepared to be really dedicated to this team because if you make it through out the season we are non stop. You should do your best and never give up.

My most memorable moment was meeting all the old alumni at Homecoming. It was a great feeling because there's so many people that come and support.
Dacia's Story: It All Pays Off
My favorite thing about being Golden Delight is knowing that there is no limit. From performing in front of thousands to building life long friendships there is nothing greater.

My advice to anyone trying out is to give it your all and not to feel discouraged when it gets tough. Ask questions to get the extra help so that you can be your best .You always have to remember if it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

My most memorable moment would have to be Honda BOTB. It was my first time experiencing something so phenomenal. Seeing the crowds reactions and feeling how they appreciated the little details we put into our performance and attire just reassured that all the sweat and tears really pay off at the end.
Desiree's Story: Confidence Is Key
My favorite thing about being GD is that we are the top auxiliary and our hard work shows on the field. And when you think we can't come up with something bigger and better...we do it!

My advice to ladies trying out is to practice your weakness now, whether that its technique or showmanship because confidence is the key and you execute better when you are confident.

My most memorable moment was Honda Battle of the Bands because I got to perform on a big stage. I felt very accomplished and proud of my sister's and I.
Versatility is the best thing about Golden Delight. I love pushing ourselves to the best of our abilities and not being afraid to be different. Also, I value the support of your sisters in and outside of band.

I would advise prospective members to be confident with everything you do. Confidence can take you to the next level.

My most memorable moment was participating in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and moving from flag to baton. Transitioning to baton takes dedication and ALOT of patience. No matter how many times I wanted to give up I had support to push forward and keep going.

Next year is going to be so unpredictable and out of the box. There was so much creativity this year I'm excited to see what's in store for next year.

Murphye's Story: From Athlete to Auxiliary, True Dedication
Great advice I can give ladies interested in GD is PREPARATION. Make sure to attend the workshops so they can have a idea of the "GD Swagg" and become more familiar with it. Practice! And most definitely watch the videos on YouTube. And most importantly be dedicated.

Leaving volleyball was a very hard decision... But dance was ALWAYS my first love. I played volleyball for the university for 3 years and my heart just wasn't in it. My school was paid for but I wasn't happy. I had to make a choice. And I chose to dance. I knew I would have to find another way to pay for school. But everything ended up working in my favor because I was finally doing something I loved. With that being said some major advice I can give is to do what makes you happy and don't get too comfortable and settle for what you are used to.
My favorite thing about being on GD is the versatility. Every game we bring a different thing for the audience to see. I learn different "character" roles to play which expands my showmanship qualities.

I would tell prospective members to first mentally prepare yourself. Get your mind right, focused, & on the prize. Go to clinics! Be sure it's for you. Stretch everyday prior, practice things you need the most work on & do some history on Golden Delight as a whole.

My most memorable moment is the first show. I was nervous and it was my first show twirling ever! It was just an overwhelming feeling all together.

I performed with the Cold Steel drum line as a part of Cool Mist before coming to Golden Delight. Through Cool Mist, I learned to become more comfortable with dancing and that prepped me for GD.
Alexxus' Story: Versatility Is the Goal
When I first made GD I thought it was gonna be easy from there. Reality hit me when I found out I would not be in the first game feature. I didn't quite understand why at first. After a few games, I realized that playing the victim was never going to get me anywhere and that I needed to do something about it. From that moment on I practiced harder and payed closer attention to details in order to better myself. Giving up was not an option and working hard was the only other solution. When I finally got in a full show, I appreciated it more because I knew what it took to get there and what it was going to take to stay there.

For prospects to be prepared in advance they should watch all GD videos and study not just the movements but the GD style. They should also humble themselves and understand that to be GD it's not going to just come to you, -you have to go after it and not give up when the road gets tough.

Ashlei's Story: Never Give Up
Kelli and Cierria came from the same high school in Durham, North Carolina. Cierria auditioned in the spring and Kelli in the summer. The two have been a team on the majorette squad as the only rookies.

"Majorettes are unique, different, wild, and free
We twirl with ease like a summer breeze.
Many try, and very few succeed,
but don't be frightened
When you see tosses & Twirls you'll be enlightened. Patience and Dedication like no other
now ask yourself would you rather give up or give in
or push yourself and make it to the end!"
-Cierria, Rookie Majorette

" ...never quit due to lack of ability , always stay ahead by staying patient."
-Kelli, Rookie Majorette

It was a change from one world to another...

from stunts and pyramids to pirouettes and leaps
from tight high v's to fluid, passionate movements,

from an ecstatic smile to a lifted brow and a soft smirk

from clapping with Pom poms after half time to p-funkin with everything I've got

from crowd involvement on the track to giving life in the stands

Stepping way out of my comfort zone , demands for fierceness on sight.

Only one word for this new woman... Simply a Delight!
Elyse's Story: The View From The Other Side
My favorite thing about being Golden Delight is that I am able to perform for the best band in the land. I love the fact that I have an awesome staff who not only cares about my performance on the field but off the field with my academics. The support system for the BGMM is awesome. Golden Delight is very rewarding.

Advice that I would give to any ladies trying out for GD is to definitely attend the workshops. A lot of information about not only the upcoming season is spoken about but there is an opportunity for you to get a feel of what its like.

My most memorable moment of GD was dancing in the dome for the Atlanta Classic. It was a great feeling putting my toes in that turf! I first saw GD when I was sitting on the other side of the stands at NCCU. Their showmanship and fabulous uniforms caught my eye. When Velvet Rope was being played, I knew at that moment that's where I needed to be,- so I transferred.
"Its impossible," said pride. "It's risky," said experience. "Its pointless," said reason. "Give it a try," whispered the heart.
